Blood test for fetal sex determination?

Noninvasive fetal sex determination using cell-free fetal DNA detectable from a blood sample in the 7th week of pregnancy is a reality. Is it accurate ? Using conventional PCR sensitivity is 94.0% and specificity, 97.3% (anything more than 70% sensitive/specific is considered reliable).

Monitoring sonology centres is the present solution to Pune's declining sex ratio. We are still legislating and policing to shut the doors on sex determination at sonology centres. Meanwhile the sex ratio in Pune has declined to less than 925/1000 (940 is the national average).

Now try policing every lab in the district. Its will take a generation to educate ourselves out of this - if we started yesterday.
